COUNCIL MEETING WRAP-UP | AUGUST 2022
Back
Key items discussed at the August 2022 Council meeting included:
- We welcomed senior student leaders to their first meeting in person since late 2019. It was great to have our students present, and Council extends the invitation to any other community members who would like to attend Council meetings now that COVID-19 social distancing measures have relaxed. Thank you for joining us Jake, Tyrone, Kiralee, Danielle and Jeremy
- Condolences to the family of Margaret Price and Charles Reddie
- Council will be hosting staff recognition awards in the coming weeks – 42 staff will be receiving awards for 5+ years of service
- The Christmas closure period for Council staff will commence on 22 December 2022. Staff will be appointed to be on call for essential services only over this period
- The final Quarter 4 Operational Plan was adopted for 2021/22 – the operational plan showcases the work of Council over the previous 12 months and provides the status of ongoing projects
- Outback Air Race 2022 to travel through Hughenden on 3 September raising money for Rural Flying Doctors Service (RFDS). Council will support this fundraising event by waiving landing fees for aircraft participating in the race, and will donate an additional $500 directly to the RFDS in support of their ongoing service to our community
- Donation to be provided to the Scooterville event on 13 September, and the Hughenden Kindy Open Day
