Flinders Shire Flood Camera Upgrades

Back

Flinders Shire Council is in the process of upgrading the flood cameras at various locations in the Shire.

The cameras were originally installed in 2016 as a way to monitor the water levels at significant locations around the shire during the wet season. Over the years, the software for the cameras has become obsolete, with the original supplier unable to service or maintain them, hence, new cameras are required.

The replacement of the cameras has been fully funded by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority under the Queensland Resilience and Risk Reduction Fund Infrastructure Program. A suitable contractor has been engaged under this arrangement to supply and install new flood cameras to replace all 10 existing cameras.

The cameras will be replaced at the following locations:

  • Ernest Henry Bridge, Hughenden
  • Glenmoan
  • Behind the golf course, Hughenden
  • Skull Creek, Flinders Highway
  • Skeleton Creek, Flinders Highway
  • Galah Creek, Torver Valley Road
  • Prairie Creek, Torrens Creek-Aramac Road
  • Glendower Crossing, Glentor Road
  • Alderly Crossing, Dalkeith Road
  • Poseidon Crossing.

Installation of the new cameras is due to start in early November and will take approximately one week to install at all locations. Once all flood cameras have been installed, links to the photos taken by the cameras will become available on Flinders Shire Council’s website.

If you have any concerns or require further information, please contact Flinders Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Hari Boppudi on 4741 2900.
