Council announces Interim Chief Executive Officer
Flinders Shire Council is pleased to announce it has appointed Bruce Davidson as Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) while recruitment takes place for a permanent candidate.
Mr Davidson's career in local government has seen him fill leadership roles in multiple states and countries.
After serving 10 years as a CEO in regional Victoria, he moved to Queensland to the rapidly developing Shire of Noosa where he spent 20 years as the CEO, retiring in 2008 as a result of Queensland Local Government amalgamations.
Opting not to transition into the mega Sunshine Coast Council, Mr Davidson spent the next four years working in international aid programs assisting the development of Local Government in the Pacific nations of Fiji, Solomon Islands, PNG, Vanuatu and Tonga.
From 2012 onwards he has been engaged in providing relief CEO services across Victorian and Queensland local government authorities, with Queensland assignments at Paroo, Cook, Charters Towers, Cloncurry (twice), Winton (twice), the Whitsundays, Moreton Bay and the de-amalgamated Noosa Shire Council.
In addition, he also facilitates Annual Performance Reviews for senior staff in local authorities.
Flinders Shire Mayor Kate Peddle said it was great to have Mr Davidson’s experience and enthusiasm on board with the Council while it recruits a permanent CEO.
"While we continue our recruitment process, Bruce's role will be to provide Council with stability and guidance, ensuring that our programs and operations continue to meet our targets,” she said.
“Bruce will help us maintain operations and continue to provide a positive culture as we move towards a prosperous future for the Shire.”
