Statement regarding former Flinders Shire Council CEO

Back

Following significant queries from the public, Flinders Shire Council wishes to make the following statement in relation to the resignation of the former Chief Executive Officer, Hari Boppudi.

An investigation was conducted as required by the Crime and Corruption Commission into allegations of suspected corrupt conduct by the former Chief Executive Officer. The investigation concluded that some of the allegations were substantiated. Council issued the former Chief Executive Officer with a show cause notice seeking an explanation as to why his employment should not be brought to an end.

The former Chief Executive Officer in response to the notice tendered his resignation taking effect immediately.

On advice from Council’s Legal Team, the findings from the investigation were referred to the Queensland Police Service. Council has been advised that the Queensland Police Service will not take the matter further.

The Queensland Police Service also advised that the Crime and Corruption Commission believed the immediate resignation by the former Chief Executive Officer mitigated Council’s risk in relation to the situation.
