Flinders Shire residents are counting down the weeks to the annual Brodie Street Christmas Party, to be held on Friday 6 December, which will also see the winners announced from Hughenden Chamber of Commerce’s popular Buy Local This Christmas campaign.

This year’s Christmas party, which starts at 6pm, promises to once again offer a night full of family-friendly fun, entertainment, and community spirit.

Shops along Brodie Street will open their doors late, alongside a variety of market stalls, perfect for ticking off those last-minute Christmas shopping lists.

Kids will be thrilled with rides, a petting zoo, and entertainment, including a special performance by the iconic Crack Up Sisters from Winton, bringing their unique blend of comedy and circus fun to the night.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the community Christmas tree, generously donated by Powerlink, will be lit for the first time, marking the beginning of a new Hughenden tradition.

In support of local businesses, the Hughenden Chamber of Commerce is again running its Buy Local campaign, encouraging residents to shop locally throughout the festive season.

Every $20 spent at a participating Chamber member’s business earns shoppers an entry into a draw to win one of two $500 vouchers.

Acting Mayor Niki Flute is thrilled to see the community come together for this festive celebration.

“The Brodie Street Christmas Party is a highlight of the year for our Shire, bringing families, friends, and neighbours together to celebrate the festive season,” Cr Flute said.

“It’s wonderful to see so many local businesses getting involved, creating a vibrant atmosphere and showcasing the best of what Hughenden has to offer.”

Cr Flute also highlighted the importance of supporting local businesses during the holiday season.

“By shopping locally, we’re not just buying gifts, we’re supporting the small businesses that support our community all year round,” she said.

“I encourage everyone to take part in the Buy Local campaign – every dollar spent here stays in our community, helping to create jobs and sustain local families.”

To participate in the Buy Local campaign, customers simply need to write their name and phone number on the back of their receipts and drop them into the designated entry bins located in participating businesses.

“The lighting of our new community Christmas tree will also be a special moment for Hughenden,” Cr Flute added.

“We’re grateful to Powerlink for their generous donation, and we’re excited to bring this new tradition to life for the whole community to enjoy.

“So, mark your calendars and join us for a night of festive fun on Brodie Street.

“Let’s celebrate the season together and support the businesses that make Hughenden a great place to live!”
