LIFTING OF BOIL WATER ALERT - HUGHENDEN

Drinking water alert lifted in Hughenden

Flinders Shire Council are pleased to advise all residents in Hughenden that tap water used for drinking is now safe to consume.

This notice applies to all residents in Hughenden from the 24th of December 2024.

There is no longer a public health concern over the quality of drinking water, and it is now considered safe for all typical uses, including drinking, preparing food and beverages, personal washing, dishwashing, laundry purposes and flushing toilets.

Flinders Shire Council has worked closely with Queensland Health and the Queensland Water Supply Regulator over the past 25 days to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. Automatic chlorine dosing has now been restored to protect the safety of the drinking water. All testing for E.coli from the 29th of November has been clear. Flinders Shire Council will continue to closely monitor the situation.

Residents should flush out affected water from the pipes in their home. Residents are asked to share this notice with neighbours and friends.

We appreciate your patience through the boil water advisory period.
