Flinders Shire locals have an exciting opportunity to become champions of the 2025 Hughenden Festival of Outback Skies and win a prize package valued at over $1,700!

By hosting friends and family attending the festival at their homes during the weekend of May 2–4 2025, residents can enter to win an incredible package, including:

  • Four return flights (Hughenden to Townsville) with REX Airlines, valid until 31 December 2025.
  • A double festival pass for the entire Festival of Outback Skies.
  • $50 in drinks vouchers to enjoy at the festival.
  • Free entry for your guests into the Flinders Discovery Centre.

With local hotel and motel accommodation limited due to the festival and ongoing infrastructure projects in the region, Flinders Shire Council is now calling on locals to assist in accommodating additional demand by hosting friends and family in their homes.

Flinders Shire Mayor Kate Peddle encouraged residents to take part in the competition, highlighting the positive impact of community involvement.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our residents to showcase Flinders Shire’s renowned hospitality,” Mayor Peddle said.

“By hosting your friends and family, you’re not just helping them experience our incredible festival, but you’re also contributing to the vibrant atmosphere that makes our Shire so special.”

To enter, residents should simply complete the entry form and ensure their guests have purchased their festival tickets before submitting their entry.

The more guests they host, the better their chances of winning, as each guest staying with them counts as an additional entry.

“This competition is all about celebrating the people who make our community so welcoming,” Mayor Peddle added.

“The prize package is an exciting way to thank our locals for their support and involvement in this flagship event.”

  • Competition closes: Sunday 6 April 2025 at 11:59 pm.
  • Winner notified: Wednesday 9 April 2025 by 10:00 am.
