COUNCIL MEETING WRAP-UP | MAY 2022

Key items discussed at the May 2022 Council meeting included:

  • We remember and give condolences to the family of John (Soda) Paine
  • Approved Material Change of Use for telecommunication tower on Lot 36 McLaren St, Hughenden – subject to conditions being met
  • Received a letter from Hon Glenn Butcher MP regarding support and funding for Hughenden Water Strategy and the Hughenden Water Bank Project
  • Approved two applications for conversion to freehold on the condition that wild dogs and noxious weeds are controlled, and that the landholder be encouraged to participate in the ‘Good Neighbour Program’
  • Adopted the April 2022 Financial Report
  • Cr Middleton and Cr Flute were elected as representatives on the Internal Audit Committee, and appointed Mr Graeme Kanofski as independent chair of the Internal Audit Committee
  • Council looks forward to welcoming our new Director of Engineering, Andrew Nunn, who will commence with Council on 30 May 2022. Council thanked Misenka Duong for his work at Acting Director of Engineering over the past seven months
  • Letter of support to be written for the Flinders Hack and Pony Club’s application to RACQ Foundation for fence upgrade
  • Hughenden is a finalist in the Top Tourism Town Awards program. Council encourages all visitors and residents to vote for Hughenden.
  • Bonita Angus to receive $500 from Council through the Contribution for Sporting Excellence program to attend the Netball State Championships to be held in Townsville from 16-19 June 2022. Congratulations Bonita, and all the best.
